I've always been interested in traditional confectionery - pretty much all of my life I was on a quest for the perfect sweets, chocolates or bonbons. And I was always fascinated about the process of sweet's making and it was partly the reason why I founded Cocoa & Heartfew years back. All those demonstrations at seaside sweet's shops of how to make a stick of rock got me thinking, that perhaps I could have a go myself. And I did - successfully - made several batches of boiled sweets and now you can have a go too, following my step by step boiled sweets recipe tutorial.

  2. Chocolate Oreos Vegan Truffles Recipe

A while ago, my friend asked me to develop a recipe that would be suitable for her vegan friends and would include her favourite biscuits – Oreos. We’ve made a batch of these vegan oreo biscuits truffles and took them to the birthday party her friend was having that week. The oreo truffles were a great hit with everyone, and we’ve continued to make them ever since!

  3. Battenberg Cake Recipe

I've always been slightly puzzled by the battenberg cake - the structure, the colour, marzipan - to me this cake always felt like something that was invented in 70s. So, I was quite surprised to find out that this cake was actually invented in the 80s, ehm...the 1880s!

Battenberg Cake was originally created to celebrate the marriage of Queen Victoria's granddaughter, princes Victoria, to Prince Louis of Battenberg in 1884.

The four squares in the cake represented the four Battenberg princes - Louis, Alexander, Henry and Francis Joseph. I like it as an idea, but I'm not quite sure what princes Victoria felt like on her wedding day, surely she was marrying just one brother?

This cake can be a challenge to make, but hopefully my step by step guide will help you to achieve a perfect result, worth any royal wedding.
