  1. Quick sourdough bread recipe without starter (1)

    First of all - and just to put everyone mind at rest - there is no such thing as true sourdough bread that's 'quick' or can be made without a sourdough starter. Yes, you can make sourdough bread without a starter, for example, San Francisco Sourdough Bread. This bread is made from 'scratch' without 'starter', but it takes about seven days to make as you gradually increase the amount of fermenting dough. The flavour is amazing, and it's certainly worth making an effort to make this bread. So, whilst made without a sourdough starter, it's certainly not quick!

  2. Oatmeal Chocolate Brownie

    This recipe is very simple to make, and it's a real energy booster. Unlike normal chocolate brownie, this recipe has chocolate added in rather than mixed in. Because of the oats, this recipe is also slightly on a healthy side, if you can possibly count brownie recipe healthy at all!

    My friend brought this recipe back from a recent trip to America, so the recipe is measured in cups. To be honest, I've started to bake more and more using cups as a measure, and it's surprisingly easy! I can even remember a few recipes without getting the cookery book out.

    Standing in front of the fridge in despair, prodding a very runny jelly? Running out of time for your jelly pudding to set and wonder what to do?

    Yes, I know, I've been there too...

    With party guest arriving any minute and you worry whether the jelly dessert will set in time, it should be served.

    So, how long does jelly take to set?

    I'm sorry to be the bearer of a bad news, but most jellies take at least 2-4 hrs to set in fridge (which is set to about 5C). But some large jellies (say if you use one of those lovely oldfashioned jelly moulds) might take even longer. If you have the time, just make the jelly the day before you needed and it will always set fine.

    I've always been interested in traditional confectionery - pretty much all of my life I was on a quest for the perfect sweets, chocolates or bonbons. And I was always fascinated about the process of sweet's making and it was partly the reason why I founded Cocoa & Heartfew years back. All those demonstrations at seaside sweet's shops of how to make a stick of rock got me thinking, that perhaps I could have a go myself. And I did - successfully - made several batches of boiled sweets and now you can have a go too, following my step by step boiled sweets recipe tutorial.

  5. Chocolate Oreos Vegan Truffles Recipe

    A while ago, my friend asked me to develop a recipe that would be suitable for her vegan friends and would include her favourite biscuits – Oreos. We’ve made a batch of these vegan oreo biscuits truffles and took them to the birthday party her friend was having that week. The oreo truffles were a great hit with everyone, and we’ve continued to make them ever since!

  6. Cinnamon Pretzel Recipe 

    This is really easy and fairly simple recipe for soft cinnamon pretzels. This is the american version (with UK measurements), which is soft and fluffy, unlike the german style traditional hard pretzels.

    I got into making pretzels when I tasted the most amazing cinnamon pretzel from a street stall in London. The taste is just so delicious, sweet and slightly chewy. Althought there is a bit of preparation involved, it's pretty easy recipe to make.

    We normally bake a batch of pretzels on Sunday and it's great fun to bake with children too. This recipe is for cinnamon pretzels, which is the simpliest versions of filling (or toppings if you like), but you can swap it for chocolate, peanut butter or any other topping you fancy.
