Our Traditional Sweets Making Workshop is a great way to start making your own sweets at home. Whether this is to treat yourselves, friends or children with homemade sweets or to recreate traditional sweets from your childhood, our introduction workshop is the perfect place to start.
We've chosen several very different recipes to help you to understand how sugar behaves and to give you a good foundations so that you can carry on experimenting making your own sweets at home.
Because of the nature of this workshop (mainly because of all that boiling sugar...), this traditional sweets making workshop is run in very small groups of just 3 students. This also means that you get the most from your day and having plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you like.
What shall we make?

Traditional - Pulled Zesty Lemon Sweets
This is very much 'hands on' course', but we will be making all the recipes together as a group. You'll still get a plenty of practise with mixing all the ingredients, learning how to boil sugar safely and of course all the traditional sweet making techniques. We'll also include plenty of technique demonstrations in which we will make sweets recipes, which are then shared between all the students.

How to make boiled sweets at home
How to safely boil and work with sugar
What to do when things go wrong and how to rescue most recipes
How to use simple equipment effectively and what equipment is necessary to use
How to create traditional sweets using different methods
How to flavour your sweets and create your own flavours
How to colour your sweets
How best to wrap and store your sweets
Plus specific techniques relevant to the course recipes
Technique demonstrations and hands on traditional sweets making workshop (1/2 day)
Everything you make during the workshop - shared as a group (but still plenty to take home)
Use of all equipment and apron
'Thank you so much, Magdalena for the wonderful sweet making course last Saturday! Me and my friend, Jo, really enjoyed the time we made all the yummi sweets. As I mentioned before I wanted to book this course with you, because I've far too many times made a mess with my attempts for traditional sweets and my fudge would often come out grainy. Well, now I know what I look for to make sure it doesn't happen again!
Our kids were of course delighted with us attending the course, as they got to taste all the sweets we made during the session. I had to hide some of the bags, as there were so many!!!
I'll be back for some more courses later in the year!'
